Two numbers

Pricing, without the estimate call

Most of this industry will not tell you a price until they have you on a call. Here are the numbers.

Start a project

The website: $499, one time

Design, writing, build and launch. A custom site for your business, not a template. Mobile first, fast, with the structured data and search basics done properly rather than left as an upsell.

You pay a $250 deposit to start and the balance when it goes live. If you hate it and we cannot get there, you have lost the deposit and I have lost two weeks, and we both move on.

The care plan: $75 a month

Hosting, updates, backups, and changes when you need them. New hours, a new staff photo, a seasonal banner, a page for the thing you just started offering.

This is optional. Plenty of people take the site and host it themselves. The plan exists because the most common way a small business website dies is that nobody touches it for three years.

No contract. Cancel any month.

Everything else, à la carte

Logo and brand identity, social media design, social media management, print and signage, email marketing, online store setup, local search setup, video and live streaming, book and publication design, photography and product graphics.

Priced per job, quoted before any work starts. Tell me what you need and I will give you a number in writing.

What $499 covers

Up to eight pages, built from the content you supply, plus the writing if you want it.

Two rounds of design changes once you have seen the first version. That is the normal shape of it — you look, you tell me what is wrong, I fix it, you look again.

Corrections are unlimited and always will be. A typo, the wrong hours, a price that moved, swap that photograph — those are fixes, not revisions, and I am not going to count them.

Anything beyond that gets quoted before I start, not after. A store, a booking system, ticketing, a second language, or starting the design over once you have approved a direction are separate projects with their own price.

What is not in the price

Your domain name, if you do not already have one. That is roughly fifteen dollars a year paid directly to a registrar, and I would rather you own it than I do.

Paid advertising budgets. Stock photography, if you need licensed images rather than your own.

That is the list. There is no setup fee, no maintenance surprise and no per-page charge.

Questions

Is $499 really the whole price for a website?

For the build, yes. A $250 deposit starts the work and $249 is due at launch. The $75 monthly care plan is separate and optional.

What is the catch?

There is no catch, there is a trade. You get one person instead of a team, which means no account manager, no project portal and no weekly status meeting. If you need those things, an agency is genuinely the better fit.

Can I cancel the care plan?

Any month, for any reason. You keep the site and the files. If you cancel, you will need somewhere to host it, and I will help you move it.

Do you take payment plans?

The build is already split into a deposit and a balance. If you need something different, ask.

How many revisions do I get?

Two rounds of design changes after you see the first version, which is the industry norm and plenty in practice. Corrections — typos, photographs, hours, prices — are unlimited and not counted. If you want to start the design over after approving a direction, that is a new project and I will quote it first.

How much do extra pages cost?

Nothing extra within a normal small business site. If the project grows into something much larger, I will tell you before I start, not after.

Tell me what you need.

One message, one reply from an actual person, and a straight answer about whether I am the right fit. No sales call, no deck.
