Small business website design

The kind of site a business gets when the person designing it has actually read about the business.

Why most small business sites are bad

Not because the owners do not care. Because the two available options are both wrong. A template builder gives you a site that looks like thirty thousand other sites and says nothing specific. An agency gives you something good for five thousand dollars and a season of your life.

So most people pick the template, fill in half of it, and never go back. The site sits there for four years saying very little while the business changes around it.

What custom actually means here

It means somebody wrote the words about your business rather than adapting the words from somebody else's. It means the layout was decided by what you need to show people, not by which theme was on sale.

A bakery needs to show the cases and the hours and whether you take custom orders. An auto shop needs to answer whether you work on diesel and how fast you can get someone back on the road. Those are different websites. A template cannot tell the difference.

Built to be found, not just to exist

Every site gets real page titles, real descriptions, proper headings and structured data that tells search engines what you do and where you do it.

It also gets set up so AI assistants can read it. When somebody asks an assistant for a barber in Kansas City, the assistants that answer are reading websites. Most small business sites are invisible to them by accident. Yours will not be.

The trades I have built for

Coffee shops, bakeries, barber shops, salons, nail studios, auto repair and real estate, with working demonstration sites for each. Every one is a different design, because a nail studio and a transmission shop should not look alike.

If your trade is not on that list, it is not a problem. It just means I will ask you more questions.

Questions

Do I need to write the content myself?

No. Writing is part of the build. You tell me about the business and I write it. You read it and tell me what is wrong, which is a much easier job than starting with a blank page.

What if I do not have good photographs?

We work with what you have, and I will tell you honestly if a photograph is hurting the page. Photography can be arranged separately if it is worth it.

Will it work on phones?

It is designed for phones first and then widened for desktop, because that is the order your customers actually use.

Can I update it myself?

You can, and I will show you how. Most clients would rather send me a message and have it done, which is what the care plan is for.

How many pages do I get?

As many as the business needs. A one-location service business usually lands somewhere between four and eight.

Tell me what you need.

One message, one reply from an actual person, and a straight answer about whether I am the right fit. No sales call, no deck.
